Top court vows consumer protection on food, drugs, Xinhua says

The Supreme People’s Court said on Thursday that consumer rights will be protected even if a person buys a food or a drug product despite known quality issues or expiry date of the products, Xinhua news agency reported Friday. At a news conference, the court also detailed instances where businesses will be held responsible in the event of food and drug safety issues, the report said. Included in the oversight will be things such as complimentary gifts, celebrity endorsement of products and online sales, it said.
