China Merchants Securities eyes top 10 berth in HK, SCMP says

China Merchants Securities Co. Ltd. (600999.CN) plans to add about 100 jobs at its Hong Kong unit this year and double the unit’s revenue over the next three years, with the aim of transforming itself from a conventional brokerage firm into a full-service investment bank, the South China Morning Post reported Monday, citing chief executive Wilson Wan. In an interview with the newspaper, Wan said he is confident the unit could become one of the top 10 investment banks in the city, competing with the likes of Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. China Merchants Securities is currently the mainland’s sixth-largest brokerage by assets, the report said.
