Global PC shipments slump to 4-year low, paper says

PC makers had a record 10 percent slump in global shipments last year to about 315 million units, close to levels last seen in 2009, the China Securities Journal reported Monday, citing research firm IDC. The volume in the fourth quarter dropped 5.6 percent year on year to 82.2 million units, down for the seventh consecutive quarter. Lenovo Group Ltd. (00992.HK) was the global PC market leader with a 17.1 percent market share in the quarter, followed by Hewlett-Packard Co. with 16.6 percent and Dell Inc. on 12 percent, the report said.
