Hospitality budget of central govt organs cut 33%, Xinhua says

Central government organs in China have seen their combined official hospitality expenditure budget get slashed by 33 percent this year from the 2013 level amid Beijing’s austerity drive, Xinhua news agency reported Monday. Meanwhile, the State Council’s budget for Class-One conference expenses was trimmed by 25 million yuan (US$4.13 million), or 38.4 percent, the report said. In other initiatives, Beijing had ordered that 3.65 million square meters of office space that had been inappropriately occupied by units under 86 central state organs be given up, it said. Car usage by these government organs is said to fall 37 percent due to the move.
