Chinese search engine operators are estimated to have recorded a 40.1 percent rise in their combined revenue last year to 39.32 billion yuan (US$6.49 billion), Xinhua news agency reported Sunday, citing data from consultancy firm iResearch. Mobile online search is seen as the key growth driver for 2014. The market is expected to become more concentrated this year, with Baidu, Qihoo 360 and Sogou staying as the major players while the others face the risk of getting marginalized, the report said. IResearch estimates that the market, measured by advertisement income, will grow to 96.33 billion yuan by 2017.
