Ministries to set city limits this year, paper says

The land and housing ministries will together set boundaries for each city, especially major centers, this year to curb rampant expansion, the China Securities Journal reported Tuesday. The Ministry of Land and Resources’ major goals this year are to protect national land resources and ensure land is used more efficiently. According to official data, the population density of Chinese cities is an average of about 7,000 people per square kilometer, well below the international average of about 10,000 people per square kilometer, the report said.
