China tags 122 bln yuan for farming subsidies, website reports

The central government has earmarked 122.2 billion yuan (US$20.2253 billion) in agricultural subsidies for lower-level authorities to distribute to farmers this year, government portal gov.cn reported Tuesday. More than 15 billion yuan is for food production and the remaining 107.1 billion yuan is a general subsidy for agricultural assets. Beijing urged local administrations to come up with more incentives for farmers to increase production, the report said.
