P2P lenders under threat from hackers, paper says

The peer-to-peer (P2P) lending industry has become the latest target of online hackers, with several firms reportedly hit by denial of service (DoS) attacks from unidentified parties who were demanding huge sums of money, the National Business Daily reported Wednesday. In October last year, Inner Mongolia-based Yinshi Investment was forced to shut down its website after persistent attacks by hackers, according to the newspaper. Improving website security is now an urgent priority of P2P lenders, which have gained popularity as online banks, the report said.
