Pond’s returns to China supermarkets, paper says

Beauty and health care brand Pond’s is returning to supermarket shelves in China, National Business Daily reported Wednesday, citing Zeng Xiwen, vice president for North Asia of Unilever Plc., the world’s second largest consumer goods maker which owns the business. Pond’s has been sold in specialty counters in department stores and shopping malls and the move suggests intensifying market competition amid falling sales. The company said it has no plans to leave China after rival L’Oreal S.A. announced this month that its Garnier cosmetics brand will exit the market, the report said.
