Several provinces and autonomous regions in the western region have lowered their economic growth targets for this year by 1 to 3 percentage points from 2013 levels, compared with an average 0.5 percentage point cut in the eastern region, the 21st Century Business Herald reported Tuesday. The Gansu province lowed its gross domestic product growth goal by one point to 11 percent, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region by 2 points to 10 percent and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region by 3 points to 9 percent. Chongqing maintained its target at 12 percent. Still, some of the western provinces may raise their export growth targets this year, including Gansu which raised it 2 points to 10 percent, the report said, citing unidentified sources.
