China revises party rules on promotions, paper says

The Communist Party of China has revised the 2002 rules on cadre promotions to meet changes of duties and organization, Beijing News reported Thursday. Under the revised rules, those who have spouses or children living overseas, have been disciplined or found to have pulled strings to gain cadre position, will not be considered for promotion or leadership positions. The guidelines also list personal integrity as the chief consideration in promotions, the report said.
