CNPC oil & gas output up 5.3% last year, paper says

China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) said on Wednesday that its combined crude oil and gas production in 2013 was up 5.3 percent from the previous year at 238 million metric tons, China Business News reported Thursday. The company’s overseas crude oil production topped the 100 million ton mark for the first time, while domestic oil production surpassed 110 million tons, the report said. The energy giant forecast that China’s oil demand this year will rise about 4 percent to 518 million metric tons, while natural-gas demand is seen rising 11 percent to 186 billion cubic meters, the report said.
