CRC looks into staff shopping card bribes, paper says

China Railway Corp. (CRC) is investigating whether pre-paid shopping cards have been used to bribe employees in local units, the 21st Century Business Herald reported Friday, citing an unnamed person familiar with the matter. CRC employees handed in more than 45 million yuan (US$5.8 million) in uncashed shopping cards to the authorities last year, according to the source. The investigation is part of a broader crackdown on corruption that will be extended into tenders for construction materials, approvals for rolling stock and engineering management, the report said.
