Tesla finds surprise favour in China, paper says

Electric-car maker Tesla Motors Inc. has received more than 200 orders for vehicles in China since its first directly owned store opened in Beijing in November, news website caixin.com reported Sunday, citing a salesperson at the store. The vehicles are selling at the much-better-than-expected rate of more than 30 cars per week, and the most popular offering is the Model S super sports car, the report said. The company, tagged in China as “the Apple of the auto industry”, is very interested in the Chinese market, the report said, citing vice president of global sales and services Jerome Guillen.
