French sports goods retailer Decathlon Group is planning 71 new stores in China by 2015, bringing the total to 150, National Business Daily reported Tuesday, citing unnamed sources. That means it will open more than 30 stores a year during the period compared with less than six stores a year over the past several years. The company, which entered the Chinese manufacturing market in 1992, started its retail business in the mainland in 2003. Some analysts attribute its fast expansion to growing demand for high-performance sports products from Chinese consumers, the report said.
