HK firms save 3.98 bln yuan on CEPA incentives, Xinhua says

Preferential tariff granted to Hong Kong firms under the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) with mainland China have helped them save about 3.98 billion yuan (US$657.64 million) on US$7.16 billion worth of goods in the past 10 years, Xinhua news agency reported Monday, citing customs data. The number of items which enjoy CEPA incentives grew to 280 at the end of 2013 from 67 in 2004 when the agreement began. Hong Kong-made drugs have benefited the most, saving 681 million yuan in taxes, the report said.
