New rules to stamp out low-quality cement, paper says

The China Building Materials Academy is seeking public feedback on new standards that would eradicate a low-quality cement blamed in part for excess capacity in the sector, the Shanghai Securities News reported Tuesday, citing the draft rules. Under the new rules, compound cement with a strength of 32.5 newtons per square millimetres will be eliminated. The review of the new standards is expected to be finished by June and the rules implemented by year-end, the report said.
