Taiwan’s export orders hit a monthly record US$42.31 billion in December last year, up 7.4 percent from a year earlier, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said in a statement Monday. The figure was up 0.4 percent to US$442.93 billion for the year, also a record. The growth was mainly attributed to increased orders from mainland China, Hong Kong and Europe. Orders from Japan slipped 8.3 percent. The ministry expects export orders to grow for a seventh straight month in January, the report said.
