Alipay, taxi app team up for big cash incentive ride, paper says

Alibaba’s Mobile Alipay and taxi-booking app developer Hangzhou Kuaidi Technology Co., Ltd. said Wednesday that they are setting aside 500 million yuan (US$82.6 million) for a rewards scheme that gives passengers 10 yuan and taxi drivers 15 yuan for every taxi trip paid for using Mobile Alipay via the Kuaidi Dache app, the Shanghai Securities News reported Wednesday. Each customer can claim up to two trips per day, while drivers are rewarded for up to five trips per day. The companies will also give away 10,001 free cab rides each day at random to passengers paying with Mobile Alipay. The incentives are effective from Wednesday and will run until further notice. Mobile Alipay is the leader in mobile payment solutions in China, handling more than 18 million transactions each day, while Kuaidi Dache has 23 million users across 40 mainland cities, processing more than 300,000 taxi bookings daily. Alibaba owns a stake in the app developer, the report said.
