Restaurant chain China Goubuli Group, famous for its steamed stuffed buns, is in talks to take a minority stake in Dunkin’ Donuts, 21st Century Business Herald reported Wednesday, citing various unnamed sources and a report by the Wall Street Journal. Goubuli could be considering an acquisition, other media reports said. The company did not confirm or deny the reports. Goubuli is applying for an initial public offering, according to a Jan. 17 filing to the China Securities Regulatory Commission. The most recent financial data shows Goubuli had assets worth 235 million yuan (US$38.83 million) as of Aug. 31, 2008, the report said. Dunkin’ Donuts is owned by US chain Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc. with a market value of US$5 billion.
