The United States attracted 6,124 affluent Chinese to immigrate in 2012 under its investment visa scheme, China Business News reported Wednesday, citing a survey by the Center for China and Globalization and the US State Department. The figure is up from 772 in 2010 and 2,408 in 2011. About 70 percent of the immigrants cited the living environment and health facilities as key reasons for their decision. In the past 23 years, more than 9.3 million Chinese have moved overseas, making China the fourth largest source of migrants worldwide. Since 2011, Chinese have become the second largest group of overseas buyers of US properties and make up 20 to 40 percent of all foreign real estate buyers in Vancouver, London and Brisbane, the report said.
