Ex-Foxconn execs investigated over bribery claims, paper says

The Taiwan authorities are investigating several former senior executives of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. — also known as Foxconn, the major assembler of Apple Inc.’s iPhone — for allegedly taking millions of New Taiwan dollars (at least US$33,147) in bribes, China Daily reported Wednesday, citing Taiwan media reports. Some members of a Hon Hai surface mount technology committee, which is responsible for procurement by the company and its subsidiaries, are suspected of taking kickbacks from suppliers. Police have questioned six people over the allegations but have not been able to find the key suspect in the case, former senior deputy general manager Liao Wan-cheng, the report said.
