Ministries vetting several FTZ proposals, paper says

As many as 12 proposals for new free trade zones have been cleared by the State Council and are now undergoing further evaluation by various ministries, a process which could take over a year, the Economic Information Daily reported Wednesday. Many local governments are hoping to jump on the bandwagon after the successful launch of the Shanghai FTZ, the paper noted. Proposals from Tianjin and Guangdong are believed to have got past the ministries’ assessments, while most of the other applications from places such as Zhejiang, Suzhou, Wuxi, Shandong, Liaoning, Henan, Fujian, Sichuan, Hefei, Guangxi and Yunnan are still in the early stage of the process, the report said.
