Several provinces are ramping up support for their forestry sector with more investment, subsidies and reform of state-owned farms, China Securities Journal reported Wednesday, citing deliberations at work meetings of local governments. The measures also include compensation for any damage to the forest cover. Sichuan, Hebei, Yunnan and 15 other provinces are expected to afforest a combined 60 million mu (40 billion square meters). Five provinces including Guangxi, Shandong and Jilin will invest tens of billions of yuan to help the sector achieve a combined production value of 1.26 trillion yuan (US$208.25 billion), the report said.
