NDRC reforms hydropower pricing, paper says

China will allow grid operators to negotiate electricity prices with new hydropower companies based on market conditions, China Securities Journal reported Thursday. At present, electricity buyers pay a preset price to power-generating companies. The new pricing mechanism will be based on the average power tariff in the recipient region. The move is part of efforts to encourage investment in the hydropower sector.
