Polysilicon hits new high on govt import tariffs, paper says

The average price of polysilicon added to this month’s gains to hit a new high Wednesday after the Ministry of Commerce introduced an anti-subsidy and anti-dumping levy on imports of the solar-panel material from the United States and South Korea, the Securities Times reported Thursday, citing market quotes. The average price was 147,000 yuan per metric ton, up 8.64 percent from the start of the year and up 20 percent from a year earlier. Some industry insiders said prices could rise further if the government puts the imports on its list of banned processing trade items, the report said.
