More Canadian provinces eye yuan bonds, paper says

A growing number of Canadian provinces plan to issue renminbi-denominated bonds after British Columbia successfully issued 2.5 billion yuan (US$409.8 million) worth of such securities in 2013, China Securities Journal reported Friday, citing Jiao Liang, president of Bank of China’s Canada branch. Several Canadian provincial governments have approached the bank regarding the matter and talks are expected anytime soon, Jiao was quoted as saying.
