More H7N9 cases reported in coastal provinces, govt says

China reported 12 new cases of H7N9 human infection over the weekend, according to data from provincial health authorities. Five more patients were confirmed to have caught the bird flu virus in Zhejiang, taking the total number of cases identified in the province this year to 49, the highest among all provinces. Guangdong reported three new cases from Shenzhen, Huizhou and Meizhou, bringing the total in the province this year to 30. Meanwhile, Jiangsu reported two new cases while Fujian and Beijing reported once each. Also, a 55-year-old woman from Jiangxi was found infected by the H10N8 strain of bird flu, the second such human infection case in the world. The first case was also reported in Jiangxi province last December.
