Fujian and Guangdong provinces confirmed two more human cases each of the H7N9 strain of bird flu Monday, including the death of one patient, according to statements on the provincial health authorities’ websites. A patient in the Guangdong city of Jiangmen died and the three others are in a critical condition, the statements said. The national quality watchdog ordered all ports to step up prevention and control of human infections of the virus. In addition, Hong Kong banned the sale of live chickens for three weeks and plans to cull 20,000 birds at a Cheung Sha Wan wholesale market after a sample from a Guangdong supplier tested positive for H7N9, according to the Hong Kong Food and Health Bureau.
