Hami-Zhengzhou UHV power transmission line kicks off, paper says

A power transmission project that aims to carry 800-kV ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) from Hami city in Xinjiang to Zhengzhou in Henan province began operation on Monday, making it the largest of its kind in the world, Economic Information Daily reported Tuesday. The project is expected to bring in investment worth 100 billion yuan (US$16.53 billion) for Xinjiang and help increase Henan’s GDP by 250 billion yuan, it said. Including this project, the State Grid Corp. of China plans total fixed-asset investment of 403.5 billion yuan this year, up 11.92 percent from 2013, the report said.
