The National Development and Reform Commission has set seven targets to improve the rural economy this year, the China Securities Journal reported Wednesday. The targets include strengthening policy breaks, improving food security and spending up construction of infrastructure, particularly in water management. The other goals are to establish a sustainable development mechanism, improve pricing systems of agricultural products, give more support to agricultural entrepreneurs and speed up various reforms. Farmers will be encouraged to establish a range of cooperatives, the report said.
