Tsubakimoto Chain Co., a supplier to Toyota Motor Corp., expects its China auto parts sales to more than double in four years, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday. The company, which makes transmission chains and gears, predicts its sales will jump to more than 12 billion yen (US$117 million) by March 2018, the report said, citing managing executive officer Toru Fujiwara. The board has approved plans for a new plant in China as early as this year, he was quoted as saying in an interview. As Germany and US-based carmakers vie for the No. 1 spot in the world’s biggest auto market, they are diversifying orders to reduce the risk of having just one supplier for each part, Fujiwara said.
