China dismisses ADIZ reports, paper says

China has dismissed Japanese media allegations that it is planning to establish an air defense identification zone (ADIZ) over the South China Sea and expressed optimism about the regional situation, China Daily reported Sunday. Beijing does not see any air security threat from its neighbors in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and is optimistic about its relations with its members, foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei was quoted as saying. Earlier this week, Japan’s Asahi Shimbun daily reported that China has drafted ADIZ proposals over the South China Sea.
