The government will set so-called red lines to protect the environment, state-backed China.com reported Sunday, citing the Ministry of Environmental Protection. This follows the recent release of the first technical guidelines that will be the basis of environmental policy or legislation by local governments. The red lines define the scope of environmental measures and sets limits on development in order to preserve the ecological balance, the report said. Technical training will begin nationwide in the next stage of the program.
