Jan services PMI falls to 5-year low, NBS says

China’s non-manufacturing purchasing managers’ index, a gauge of business activity in the services sector, fell to 53.4 in January, the lowest level since December 2008, from 54.6 in December, the National Bureau of Statistics said in a statement on its website Monday. A figure above 50 suggests expansion. The new orders index fell slightly to 50.9 from a reading of 51 in December, while the business expectations sub-index dropped 0.6 point to 58.1.
