Chinese navy ships have entered the West Pacific Ocean to start a drill there after exercises in the Indian Ocean, the official Xinhua news agency reported Monday. The three-ship flotilla from the Nanhai fleet consists of amphibious landing craft Changbaishan and destroyers Wuhan and Haikou, military sources were quoted as saying. They will conduct exercises on defense and emergency settlement and test the command system’s response and soldiers’ combat skills. On Jan. 29, the ships held drills in the Indian Ocean on anti-piracy, search and rescue and damage control, the report said.
