Holiday retail, F&B sales up 13.3%, Xinhua says

Retail shops and food and beverage outlets posted combined sales of 610.7 billion yuan (US$100.77 billion) during the Lunar New Year week to Feb. 6, an increase of 13.3 percent year on year, the official Xinhua news agency reported Thursday, citing Ministry of Commerce data. Sales of traditional festive goods at supermarkets in Anhui, Guangxi and Hubei were up more than 20 percent year on year while jewelry sales in Hubei, Liaoning and Heilongjiang rose more than 30 percent. However, sales of premium wine in Fuzhou and high-end tobacco products in Luoyang fell 70 percent and 40 percent, respectively, the report said.
