Industry leader urges closer Sino-US energy ties, Xinhua says

The United States and China can cooperate more closely in the oil and gas industry to mutual benefit, Xinhua reported Thursday, citing a U.S. industry leader. Martin Schardt, executive vice president of the North American Prospect Expo, said there are great opportunities for U.S. and Chinese companies “to get together and grow and help each other out, and develop resources that will help both economies”. The Houston-based expo is a marketplace for trading in oil and gas prospects and producing properties, the report said. “China’s oil and gas industry is obviously very active. They seem to be well-funded and ready to explore. We see a lot of them here in the U.S.,” Schardt was quoted as saying.
