More cities allow IC cards for public services, paper says

Smart bank cards, also known as integrated circuit or IC bank cards, can now be used for personal identification and payment of public services such as transportation and medical services in 63 more cities, including Beijing, Nanjing and Qingdao, China Securities Journal reported Monday. The scheme was launched in June 2011, covering 47 cities nationwide. At least 380 million IC cards have been issued as of September last year, the report said.
