China allots 1.5 bln yuan for disaster relief, Xinhua says

China’s finance and civil affairs ministries have jointly allocated 1.46 billion yuan (US$243 million) to support residents in disaster-hit regions, Xinhua news agency reported Monday. The amount is the last batch of a 7.3 billion natural disaster relief fund for winter and spring. Official figures show that natural disasters, including droughts, cold spells, snowstorms and earthquakes, affected more than two million people and forced the relocation of 3,000 across China in January, while damaging homes and crops, the report said.
