United States patent licensing company InterDigital Inc. has promised to cooperate with China’s anti-trust authorities who are investigating the firm, Xinhua news agency reported Monday. The anti-monopoly bureau under the National Development and Reform Commission confirmed that it has received a commitment from InterDigital that could lead to a suspension of the anti-monopoly probe into the firm, adding that it will study the case further before making any decision. InterDigital had been accused of charging Chinese telecommunication firms such as Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and ZTE Corp. (00763.HK) excessive patent royalties. In October last year, a court in Guangdong province ordered InterDigital to pay Huawei 20 million yuan (US$3.28 million) in compensation for monopolistic practices, the report said.
