Hainan Yedao wins nod for cassava ethanol project, paper says

Hainan Yedao Co. Ltd. (600238.CN) will start production at its 100,000-ton ethanol plant this year after receiving final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission on Tuesday, the China Securities Journal reported. According to NDRC documents, the project costs 430.18 million yuan (US$70.98 million), with a capital of 215.09 million yuan. A joint venture between Hainan Yedao and China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) (00386.HK, 600028.CN), the project will produce ethanol from cassava roots with capacity scheduled to rise to 200,000 tons a year in phase two, the report said.
