China has welcomed the start of the first high-level talks in seven years between North and South Korea, expressing hope for a better relationship between Pyongyang and Seoul via dialogue, Xinhua news agency reported. “We welcome the talks between the two sides, and wish that they yield positive results,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying was quoted as saying at a daily press briefing on Wednesday. China has always encouraged the two sides to improve ties and promote reconciliation via dialogue, Hua said. Seoul’s Unification Ministry said five delegates from the two Koreas started a dialogue Wednesday morning in the Peace House, on the South Korean side of the truce village of Panmunjeom, as scheduled.
