Sinopec finds huge shale gas deposit in Guizhou, report says

China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) (00386.HK, 600028.CN) has discovered a shale gas deposit with an expected average daily output of 43,000 cubic meters in Xishui county of southwest China’s Guizhou province, Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday. The project, called Dingye-2HF, is the deepest well so far in the country at 4,417 meters, and marks a technological breakthrough in China’s deep shale gas drilling, the Ministry of Land and Resources was quoted as saying in a statement. Another shale gas block in the region, located in Chongqing’s Fuling district, produced 150,000 cubic meters per day last year, the report said.
