Ladder pricing system for gas use expected this year, paper says

The government is likely to implement a ladder pricing mechanism for residential use of natural gas nationwide this year, following its adoption for electricity and water supplies, the Economic Information Daily reported Friday, citing an unnamed person with knowledge of the matter. Draft rules for the purpose have been submitted to the State Council, according to the source. The price of gas is expected to rise as the country is seen relying on imports to meet 30 percent of its gas needs this year, the report said.
