China raises rail cargo rate 11.5%, paper says

China Railway Corp. has raised freight rates by 1.5 cent per ton kilometer starting Feb. 15, up 11.5 percent, Shanghai Securities News reported Monday, citing an official announcement. The move signals the start of price reform in the railway sector, it said. Daqin Railway Co. Ltd. (601006.CN) said in a regulatory filing on Monday that the new rate will boost its revenue by 4.3 billion yuan (US$704.9 million) this year.
