End in sight to oil, gas transmission monopolies, paper says

The National Energy Administration has signaled the end to the country’s oil and gas transmission monopolies with an announcement on the weekend that it will roll out new rules this year to ensure fairness and opening of the sector, the Beijing Times reported Monday. The pipeline networks, which extend for more than 100,000 kilometers, are basically controlled by PetroChina Co. Ltd. (00857.HK, 601857.CN), China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) (600028.CN, 00386.HK) and CNOOC Ltd. (00883.HK). The administration released draft rules for public feedback in November.
