Macau, Taiwan sign open-skies deal, Xinhua says

Macau and Taiwan authorities signed an air transport agreement in the former Portuguese colony on Monday allowing both sides to fly more airlines on routes connecting the two jurisdictions, the official Xinhua news agency reported Monday. Under the agreement, current restrictions on air transport capacity for both sides are cancelled and chartered flights are allowed between Macau and Taiwan cities, including Taichung, Hualien, Taitung, Tainan, Chiayi, Magong and Kinmen. Airlines registered in Macau or Taiwan can also now forge code-sharing pacts, the report said.
