159 accounting firms punished for malpractice, paper says

The Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants punished 159 small and medium-sized accounting firms in 2013 for malpractice, Shanghai Securities News reported Wednesday, citing a statement from the institute. The firms were involved in substandard audit or in forged capital verification reports, reflecting weak internal risk and quality control, the report said.
