China to push forward development of more FTZs, paper says

Using the experience of the Shanghai free trade zone (FTZ), China’s commerce ministry will push for the development of other free trade zones or free ports in an orderly manner, the China Securities Journal reported Wednesday, citing ministry spokesman Shen Danyang. The ministry also aims to speed up negotiations on international free trade agreements, including a bilateral one with South Korea, a trilateral deal with South Korea and Japan, and a Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) with Southeast Asian countries, Shen was quoted as saying at a news briefing on Tuesday. As for China’s foreign trade prospects this year, Shen said it is expected to grow at a similar pace as in 2013.
